2. Kor. ir 3. vai 4.vēstule, kuru Pāvils rakstīja korintiešiem. Sk. “Ievads. 1. Korintiešiem”.

Pāvila pretinieki izaicināja viņa apustulisko autoritāti un viņa darbības motīvus. 2.Kor. rakstīšanas laikā jau daudzi Korintā bija atgriezušies no grēkiem un Pāvila izaicināšanas, bet vēl kādi Korintā bija tādi.

Ir uzskats, ka 2.Kor. 10.-13.nod. ir pielikums no citas vēstules, taču nav pilnīgi nekādu liecību, ka 2.Kor. būtu jebkad bijusi sadalīta. Manuskripti uzrāda tikai vienu veselu 2.Kor.

Autors, sarakstīšanas laiks un adresāti

Autors ir ap. Pāvils (1:1; 10:1). Šī vēstule satur vairāk autobiogrāfiskas ziņas par Pāvilu nekā jebkurš cits viņa rakstīts darbs.

Šī vēstule sarakstīta ap 55.gadu. No 1.Kor. 16:5-8 secinām, ka 1.Kor. sarakstīta no Efezas pirms Vasarsvētkiem (pavasarī). Tad 2.Kor. tikusi sarakstīta tajā pašā gadā pirms ziemas iestāšanās, jo 2.Kor. saturs liek domāt, ka Pāvils vēl ir tikai Maķedonijā (sk. 2.Kor. 2:13; 7:5), par kuras šķērsošanu viņš min 1.Kor. 16:5. 2.Kor. sarakstīta 3.misijas ceļojuma laikā.

2.Kor. 1:1 saka, ka vēstule adresēta Korintas draudzei un visiem kristiešiem, kas dzīvoja Ahajas provincē.

Vēstules sarakstīšanas iemesls un nolūks

Korintas draudzē bija ienākuši maldu mācītāji, kas apšaubīja Pāvila personīgo integritāti un viņa kā apustuļa autoritāti. Tāpēc, ka viņš bija paziņojis par izmaiņu sava maršruta plānā, kā rezultātā viņš korintiešus neapmeklēs divas, bet vienu reizi, šie pretinieki uzstāja, ka viņa vārdiem nevar ticēt. Viņi arī sacīja, ka viņš nebija īsts apustulis un ka viņš pats savā kabatā ielika to naudu, ko viņi bija savākuši priekš nabadzībā nonākušajiem ticīgajiem Jeruzālemē. Pāvils lūdz viņus izvērtēt to, ka viņa personīgā dzīve viņu vidū bija vienmēr bijusi godpilna un ka viņa dzīvi izmainošā pestīšanas vēsts bija patiesa. Pāvils runā par savām ciešanām. Viņš runā arī par nākošo godību. Viņš skubina korintiešus sagatavoties viņa vizītei, noslēdzot to ziedojumu vākšanu, kuru viņi bija iesākuši gadu iepriekš un lai viņi sagatavojas viņu atnākšanai, darot kaut ko ar nemiera cēlājiem viņu vidū. Pāvils brīdina, ka viņš domā nopietni to, ko viņš raksta.
